An Optimistic Beginning

We're starting this blog at 35 weeks, 5 days into Erin's first pregnancy and are optimistic that it will document our new life with Baby Gill starting at the 41st week and beyond and not at, say, the 36th or 37th week. Legs and fingers crossed! However, given that Baby Gill is already causing his soon-to-be-mother quite a bit of pain and discomfort, perhaps we should start praying for an early delivery.

Erin has a list of (mostly unnecessary) projects she'd like to start and complete before Baby Gill arrives, and she's eagerly counting down the days until August 12th - the first day of her maternity leave. Anthony has a list of naps he'd like to take and friends he'd like to have a beer with before Baby Gill arrives, but he keeps finding himself pressed into service by Erin's crazed nesting instinct. We're working out a compromise that, so far, seems to mainly involve Erin starting projects and taking naps, Anthony finishing projects and doing household chores, and no one having any beers. Need to keep working on that compromise.

Whenever Baby Gill arrives and the blog officially kicks off, we hope you'll stop by often to catch up on our attempts at parenthood, coo at photos of the little guy, and watch video of Baby Gill and Birkin "Bear" Gill, our first baby who can't believe how many "toys" and "beds" we've bought her in the past few months.

We're so excited for you both to join the crazy world of Parenthood in Brooklyn! And don't worry, there are still lots of time for beers even after Baby Gill arrives :-)
